Getting around Mykonos by Local Buses
Like many of the Greek islands, the local bus service is run by the KTEL organization. On Mykonos there are two major bus stations in Chora (Mykonos Town). One is located on the southern part of Mykonos Town and is known as “Fabrika”. The other bus station is located on the north part of Mykonos Town and is referred to as “Old Port Bus Station”. Ticket costs are typically between €1 and €2 for a single journey and should be paid on the bus in cash.
Fabrika Bus Station operates routes to many beaches, such as Ornos, Agios Yiannis, Platys Gialos, Paranga, Paradise Beach, Super Paradise Beach, as well as New Port and Airport.
Old Port Bus Station is located in front of the Archaeological Museum and operates buses to Airport, New Port, Agios Stefanos, Ano Mera, Kalafati, Elia, Kalo Livadi, Panormos, Ornos, Agios Yiannis, Platis Yialos and Super Paradise.

Sea Bus
Sea Buses connect the Town of Mykonos with Old Port & New Port. They are operating daily, starting from Mykonos Town at 7:00 am & runs till midnight. Operating schedule: from 7am – 11 am (every hour), from 11 am – 6 pm (every 30 minutes), from 6pm – midnight (every hour). Ticket price is 2€ per person, one way. Trip duration from Mykonos Town to New Port: about 15 minutes. There is enough space for luggage and strollers on the Sea Bus and wheelchairs can be accommodated.
Water Taxi Boat to South Beaches
A beautiful & fun way to reach the 7 popular Mykonos Beaches is to take a water taxi boat, also known as a Caique. Old fishing boats have been converted into useful means of transport Mykonos island. They run from Ornos Beach making pick-ups and drop-offs at Platis Yialos, Paranga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia. From Late May till mid October, these run from 10:00 am from Ornos Beach, with the last return from Elia at 17:45 pm. Tickets cost 10€ for a one-beach round-trip ticket or 20€ for an all-day, all-beach pass. Tickets are paid in cash when you board.
Hiring a Car
There is plenty of opportunities to rent vehicles such as cars, motorbikes, scooters and quad bikes throughout Mykonos island. There are places that you can hire your vehicle of choice all over the island, but bigger names like Avis and Sixt can be found at the airport. Before you can hire a vehicle, you will need to have an appropriate driving license. If you are coming from outside the EU, you must have an international driver’s permit. Booking in advance may be necessary for the summer months.
Taxi
The Taxi Station is located on the North side of Mykonos Town (behind the Archaeological museum) but you can find taxis also in the New Port and the Airport. They are usually the more expensive option for getting around the island & difficult to find one, particularly in the summer season as there are only 30 taxis in Mykonos. Price example; from Mykonos Airport to Mykonos Town, the cost is 15 € (3.5 km) – max 4 people per taxi.
