Mykonos beaches are popular all around the world.
There is over 25 accessible beaches on the island, most known for their golden sand and crystal waters. Mykonos is among the most visited tourist destinations in Greece and therefore most beaches in Mykonos, especially the beaches on the south coast, are well organized with many tourist facilities. Agios Sostis Beach
Taking the road beyond Panormos beach and facing east onto the bay, Agios Sostis is one of the more remote beaches on the island. Unlike the southern beaches in Mykonos, there is only few accommodation facilities around this beach. There is a nice tavern which became quite popular and you might have to wait for a table during lunch hours. As there is no bus connection available, you can only come here by private vehicle or taxi.
Agios Stefanos Beach
Two kilometers north of town and facing to the west is the well developed beach of Agios Stefanos. Many hotels in this area supply a wide range of accommodation with the beach itself offering a good selection of restaurants and cafes. This family oriented beach can be reached via taxi, private vehicle or regular bus service from town.
Agios Yannis Beach
Agios Yianis Beach is located on the west side of the island and facing Delos, the relatively small and picturesque beach of Agios Yannis offers white sands and a collection of small coves catering to the general public. Famous as the location for the award winning motion picture “Shirley Valentine”, many appreciate this setting for its calm and relaxed atmosphere. Regular bus service from town provides easy access throughout the day.
Agrari Beach
Agrari Beach is one of the quietest beaches of the southern chain. Its a smaller size beach with a single restaurant and beach bar that caters to all who enjoy seclusion from the crowds. There is no local bus service but Agrari can be reached by private transport, taxi and Water Taxi from other south beaches in Mykonos such as Ornos, Platis Yialos, Paranga, Paradise, Super Paradise and Elia. Due to its close proximity to Elia beach the Agrari beach can also be reached easily by foot from the Elia beach bus station.
Elia Beach
Elia is the longest sandy beach in Mykonos, fully organized, offering a wide choice of taverns and bars as well as water sports facilities. On the far right side of the beach nude sunbathing is practiced. Elia Beach can be reached by local bus service, taxi, private transport and Water Taxi Service from Ornos, Platis Yialos, Paranga, Paradise, Super Paradise and Agrari Beach. From Agrari beach you can also walk to Elia Beach.
Ftelia Beach
Ftelia is one of the quiet beaches in Mykonos, located on the north side of the island and therefore a subject to a good onshore wind and very popular among the wind surfers. If you are coming for a swim the best is to come on a non-windy day. There is a restaurant and a beach club to serve the needs of those who visit. The access to Ftelia beach can only be made by taxi or a private vehicle.
Kalafatis Beach
One of the earliest established beaches on the south coast of Mykonos. This beautiful bay and long sweeping Kalafatis beach has become famous to wind surfers who enjoy a good offshore breeze. Hotel accommodation is available together with various water sports including diving with access to the beach made easy from town through a regular bus service. Few small restaurants can be found in the area which are often specializing in local seafood dishes.
Kalo Livadi Beach
Kalo Livadi is part of southern beaches in Mykonos and its situated between Kalafatis and Elia beach. Regular bus service runs from Mykonos town allows easy access to this beach with exotic waters, good restaurants, beach bar parties.
Lia Beach
Located furthest from Mykonos Town (13 km), Lia Beach is accessible only by private transport or taxi. Lia beach is a perfect place to escape the crowds. Its undeveloped state and single restaurant make it possible to enjoy the natural Cycladic landscape surrounding this beautiful beach crystal clear waters.
Ornos Beach
Located on the southwest corner of the island and only 3.5 km from town, this area has recently developed into a village. Due, for the most part to the sea’s sandy bottom which drops off very gently from the shore, Ornos provides the perfect family beach. Ornos a really beautiful beach but unfortunately it is often too crowded. Access to and from town is made easy with a frequent local bus service. Water Taxi to other beaches (Platis Yialos, Paranga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia) starts and finishes here at Ornos beach. There is a good yachts anchorage in this bay.
Panormos Beach
On the north side of the island and facing east onto Panormos Bay is the long and beautiful Panormos Beach. In recent years it has become quite popular among jetsetters. There are couple of restaurants and beach club right on the beach. Panormos Beach is accessible by regular bus service from Mykonos Town or private vehicle and taxi.
Paradise Beach
Probably the most popular beach on the island, Paradise developed its fame and through its discovery by the “Hippies” and other world traveling backpackers of the 60’s. Paradise beach caters primarily to the young set offering a well organized facilities; cafeteria, snack bars, restaurants, beach bars, night clubs, professional diving center, camping facilities and other accommodation at the beach. Paradise beach is accessible by regular bus service from Mykonos Town, private vehicle and taxi. There is also a Water Taxi service connecting this beach with other beaches such as: Ornos, Platis Yialos, Paranga, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia.
Paranga Beach
Paranga is set in a picturesque landscape with many restaurants and beach bars which create a party atmosphere on this popular beach. Range of accommodation is available close to the beach. Public transportation to the beach is supplied by a regular bus service from town and a frequent Water Taxi service which connects this beach with other beaches such as: Ornos, Platis Yialos, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia.
Platis Yialos Beach
Plati Yialos is one of the oldest and most established of the southern beaches. It is another family oriented beach offering ample accommodation, restaurants, beach bars and water sports. As one of the most visited beaches connections by Water Taxi service to other southern beaches of Ornos, Paranga, Paradise, Super Paradise, Agrari and Elia. Bus service from town is very frequent.
Psarou Beach
Psarou Beach is famous for attracting celebrities an jetsetters from all over the world. It is a beautiful sandy beach with clear turquoise waters, high class restaurants and beach bars. It is situated in the south of Mykonos Island and is accessible by private vehicle. This beach caters to people who enjoy the wild parties and events. The sunbeds at the beach are rented at quite expensive price. During the summer months there is a long waiting list before entering the beach.
Super Paradise Beach
The exclusivity of Super Paradise beach has made it a favorite for gay visitors to the island for many years. In recent years it has become popular among both, gay and straight visitors. This beautiful beach set in a stunning deep bay offers: diving and other water sports facilities, good restaurants, beach clubs that echo throughout the day the energy of the town’s nightlife. You can access this beach by local bus service, taxi, private vehicle and Water Taxi. Water Taxi connects Super Paradise and other beaches such as Ornos, Platis Yiaos, Paranga, Paradise, Agrari and Elia.
